The product emails were redesigned

Changed

If you turned on either product email on the Notifications page, the next one you get looks different. Same content (every change published, in the author's words), laid out so it survives the inbox it arrives in.

They read on a phone. Each change used to keep its picture beside its text at any width, which left the text about a hundred pixels wide on a phone. The picture now moves above the text on a narrow screen and both take the full width. Screenshots are also scaled to fit their slot at their own proportions instead of being stretched into it, so a tall capture no longer towers over the words next to it.

The subject line says which of the two emails it is. Each one now leads with its own name instead of "iAdvize", which your mail client already shows as the sender. The daily reads Daily changelog: 3 changes · Wed, Aug 19. The day is there because a count repeats: two busy days used to produce the identical subject, and mail clients threaded them together, burying one behind the other. The weekly reads Weekly product update: followed by that week's headline and nothing else; a headline is different every week, so it needs no date to stay unique. On a week the digest goes out unwritten, it falls back to a count and the window's first day: Weekly product update: 4 changes · week of Aug 13.

Every change has something to click. Each entry carries a Read more link, and both emails end with a button to the full changelog. The daily's button used to appear only on a day with more than five changes, which is to say almost never, so a normal edition contained nothing that looked clickable.

The daily states its date once. It's at the top, spelled out in full, instead of being repeated on every row that shares it. The weekly does the opposite: its rows keep their own dates, weekday included (Wed, Aug 19), because a week spans several.

The weekly opens with the week in numbers: 12 changes · 3 new · 4 improvements · 5 fixes, counted from that week's entries, not written by the model that edits the digest. Its three sections were renamed to say what they hold: The change of the week, Also this week, and The rest in brief. Titles in that last section are no longer underlined: stacked a dozen deep, underlined lines read as a mistake rather than as a list, so each one's badge carries the cue instead.

Dark mode and blocked images behave. A mail client that asks for a dark version gets one, and one that inverts the email itself lands somewhere readable. A change's type is always written out next to its coloured dot, so an inverted colour costs you nothing. With images off, each row shows a short line naming the change rather than a paragraph of alt text.

The footer names us properly, and replies go somewhere. It now carries iAdvize SAS and our postal address, as commercial mail should, and a reply goes to product@iadvize.com rather than back to the sending address. Manage notifications, Unsubscribe and RSS are where they were.
