Shopify onboarding and add-to-cart are working again
FixedShopify retired part of its store integration on 2026-08-31. Until this fix, that broke two things for stores on Shopify:
- Onboarding couldn't recognize a Shopify store. Creating a new site normally detects Shopify automatically and connects your catalog and cart with no extra step. Since the retirement, that detection silently failed for every Shopify store: the site was created as Custom instead, with no catalog connected, and the review screen said so. You had to notice and add a Shopify connector yourself.
- The assistant lost the ability to add items to a shopper's cart. Any Shopify connector created before the retirement kept working for catalog search, but its cart tools disappeared from what the assistant could use mid-conversation: a shopper asking to buy something got no way to actually add it to their cart.
Both are fixed. New Shopify sites are detected and connected automatically again, exactly as before, and add-to-cart works again for every Shopify connector; nothing to redo on connectors that were already working. While restoring it, we also made cart updates safer: when the assistant adds an item to a shopper's cart, it now always keeps everything already in that cart instead of only sending the new item.
One related change: Cancel cart (the tool that empties a shopper's cart outright) now defaults to off on Shopify connectors, since nothing in the assistant's flow uses it today. Turn it on from the connector's Tools list if you need it.
If your site fell back to Custom during this window, add a Shopify connector and link it to a new configuration version to get the catalog and cart tools going.
